Day three of the Manokwari Pro World Surf League (WSL) Qualifying Series (QS) 2000 and Pro Junior event saw another exciting day of action at Amban Beach, with two-to-three-foot glassy conditions and sunny skies starting the day. The men’s Pro Junior Quarterfinals and Semifinals, women’s Pro Junior Semifinals, and first two Quarterfinals of the men’s QS were completed before strong onshore winds forced competition to be called off for the day.
The men’s Pro Junior Final is set, with two Japanese surfers, Ikko Watanabe (JPN) and Yuma Nagasawa (JPN), and two Indonesians, Dylan Wilcoxen (INA) and Westen Hirst (INA), ready to battle for the title and trophy.

Last year’s runner-up, Wilcoxen, will be looking to go one better this time, but will have to overcome Watanabe or Nagasawa in order to claim the win and secure a place in the WSL World Junior Championships. Wilcoxen is currently ranked No. 4 on the Asia Junior Tour rankings, with Nasagawa No. 3, and Watanabe No. 2. Rankings leader Riki Sato (JPN) was eliminated earlier in the Semifinals.
The Pro Junior Women’s Finalists have also been confirmed, featuring Japan’s Anon Matsuoka (JPN) and Renon Matsuyama (JPN), Indonesia’s Aura Zeflin (INA), and the UK’s Georgie-May Hicks (GBR), guaranteeing a new champion this year. Matsuoka and Matsuyama are both chasing a result strong enough to earn their ticket to the WSL World Junior Championships.

In the men’s QS, two Indonesian surfers have already locked in Semifinal spots: last year’s No. 1 and No. 2, I Made Ariyana (INA) and Ketut Agus (INA). Two Quarterfinal heats remain, featuring Japan’s Yuma Nagasawa (JPN) competing against Dylan Wilcoxen (INA), with Ikko Watanabe (JPN) taking on I Made Mahendra (INA).
With the women’s QS Semifinalists decided yesterday, an all-Japanese matchup awaits in Semifinal 1, with Matsuoka and Matsuyama set to face each other, while Indonesia’s Jasmine Studer (INA) and KKya Heuer (INA) will meet in Semifinal 2.
The 2025 Manokwari Pro QS 2000 and Pro Junior will run at Amban Beach in West Papua, Indonesia, from November 26 – 30.
