Friday, 26 September 2025, Pererenan, Bali – The Bintang Liga Surfing Indonesia 2025 presented by Earth Island kicked off yesterday at Pererenan Beach, celebrating the 5th edition of the LSI Grand Final with a full day of surfing action. With conditions delivering solid 4-foot waves and bigger sets filling in on the rising tide, contest directors made the call to run double banks — the river mouth as the main peak and the sandbar as the secondary — allowing multiple divisions to be completed on the opening day.
A wide range of divisions hit the water on Day 1, including Junior Men’s Shortboard, Junior Women’s Shortboard, Open Men’s Shortboard, Open Women’s Shortboard, Open Women’s Longboard, Open Men’s Longboard, Masters, and Under 10.
Day 1 Highlights

The standout performance of the day came from Westen Hirst, who lit up the sandbar in the afternoon with a near-perfect 9.8 (out of 10). Hirst impressed judges and the crowd alike with a dynamic combination of critical turns adding to a full-rotation backside air reverse.

The women’s divisions also saw excellent surfing early in the day at the river mouth, with Kailani Johnson and Kya Jo Heuer both locking in excellent scores in the 8-point range, proving Pererenan’s righthanders were the right stage for top-level competition.

In the Open Men’s Longboard Division, Pererenan’s own Dhany Widianto showed why he is one of Indonesia’s finest longboarders, gliding with grace and flow, and earning cheers from the hometown crowd with his signature nose rides.

And in the Masters Division, the legend Adi “Bol” Putra delighted the crowd in the morning heats, showing his class with a series of strong backside turns in combination that reminded everyone why he is one of Bali’s most respected surfers.
What’s Next – Day 2 Outlook
Day 2 is set to deliver bigger and more powerful surf in the 5–6 foot range at the river mouth. The contest will shift to a single bank format, with Open Men’s Shortboard, Junior Men’s Shortboard, and Masters Division on call for an exciting day of action. The official call is at 7:30 AM, with a potential start at 8:00 AM.
