31 July 2025, Bali-Indonesia: The Asian Surf Cooperative (ASC) and City Surfer Surf Club are excited to announce the return of the Dongsha Open of Surfing 2025 as the second stop of the 2025-26 Asian ProAm Surf Series (APSS). The 3rd annual Dongsha Open of Surfing will take place from 17-19 October at Dongsha Beach in the province of Zhoushan, China, just a 4 hour drive from the city of Shanghai, and will offer live and DJ music beachside in the evenings, street dance shows, and a beach market with food and local products during the day along with the international Men’s and Women’s Shortboard and Longboard surfing competition.
Last year’s event drew 48 competitors from countries including South Korea, Japan, Hong Kong and Indonesia and several areas of China, who enjoyed camaraderie and competition while partying and surfing together in this amazing and unique seaside setting over the two day weekend, and with the recent relaxation of China’s immigration restrictions it’s expected that many more will join this year.

As the second stop in the recently introduced 2025-26 Asian ProAm Surf Series, competitors will not only win prize money but also points towards the APSS championship, where the divisional winners will claim an additional cash prize for finishing at the top of the rankings at the end of the series season. The first stop of the APSS, the Afulu Pro, was completed in Indonesia in early July on the island of Nias in North Sumatra, and the third stop will be in South Taiwan, the Jialeshui International Surfing Festival, from 22-26 October.

The Dongsha Open of Surfing 2025 will offer equal prize money in each division, and is open to all levels of surfers who are looking to join a professional surf event that allows them to progress and learn in a competition while meeting other surfers in a more relaxed and fun setting; while experiencing a new place and culture.
